  • Effective January 1, 2026 our District Courts have gone paperless in the District Clerk's Office. 

    ALL filings that go through E-FILE are considered the originals.  ALL filings through E-FILE will be in our Software: Enterprise Justice.  ALL filings brought to court will be scanned into our Software: Enterprise Justice.  Any exhibits and/or records that cannot be scanned, will be placed in our office. 

  • Jury Duty Selection:

    • You must report for jury service unless you: (1) claim an exemption or (2) are disqualified.
    • To Claim an Exemption: Circle the exemption(s) that you claim located on the back of your summons. Sign the form. Mail or take the form to the DeWitt District Clerk's Office. NOTE: Yo do not have to claim an exemption and may instead choose to serve.
    • If you are Disqualified: Circle the qualification(s) that you do not meet located on the back of your summons. Sign the form. Mail or take the form to the DeWitt District Clerk's Office. 
    • Before Reporting for Jury Service: Please complete the juror questionnaire on the front of your summons. Bring the summons with you when you report.
    • Please contact our office if you have any questions regarding a medical excuse. 
    • If you have any questions or concerns regarding jury duty, please contact us at 361-275-0931.
    • Please arrive early on the day of to allow for parking and to be checked in on the 1st floor by both the District Clerk's Office and the Treasurer's Office before heading to the 2nd floor courtroom. Jury Duty is expected to last all day.

     

    If you have misplaced your Summons, please print and fill out a new one to bring with you on the day of service:

     

    Claim for a Permanent Exemption for JURY Service Based on Age  (Over 75 years of age)
                ** As of September 1, 2023, the Permanent Exemption Age for Jury has changed to 75 years of age

    Claim for a Permanent Exemption for GRAND JURY Service Based on Age   (75 or over years of age)
                ** As of September 1, 2025, the Permanent Exemption Age for Jury has changed to 75 years of age


    Any time that you receive a Jury Summons, please be sure to call our office the Friday before to insure that Jury is still meeting.  Any cancellations are posted on this message. Please call our office if you have any questions, 361-275-0931.

  • EXPUNCTIONS

    Pursuant to SB 1667, which was signed during the 89th Legislative Session and took effect September 1, 2025, a District Clerk must post on their website a list of local agencies, including their mailing and email addresses, which a petitioner can include in their expunction order. Please note, pursuant to the amended Code of Criminal Procedure, the District Clerk is not liable if this list is not a comprehensive listing of every agency:

    If there is NO e-mail provided: the charge of $25 per agency will apply, at the time of filing. The New fee will cover the Notice on the Petition, the Notice on the Order and any postage.

    If an e-mail address is provided: there is NO charge for us to send the Notices electronically. The $25.00 fee per agency will NOT be needed at the time of filing.

    ****Any other agency the Petitioner believes may possess information regarding the case for which they are requesting the court to grant expungement.****

  • For those involved in an Attorney General Child Support case, you MUST contact the Attorney General's Office in Victoria for any changes in court date.  This office CANNOT assist in this matter. 

    You should contact 361-576-6088, and MAKE SURE to ask for the Attorney General's Office in Victoria, Texas.  This number will direct you to a Call Center in Austin, so you HAVE TO ASK to speak to the Victoria Office.

    (PRIOR to making payments on cases, please call the District Clerk's Office to obtain the required information for processing your payment.)
